In March 2020, our small, family-run restaurant was turned upside-down by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic recession.
Almost immediately, friends and neighbors began to reach out with ideas that could save our business. For us, the most compelling was to have our team cook for members of our community currently experiencing food insecurity—a concept we called “Feed the Valley,” pilot testing our ability to contribute throughout that spring.
After seeing the benefits of that initiative on a small scale, we reached out to local experts at hospitals, nonprofits and family service agencies to learn how we might expand our work. We also partnered with the Santa Barbara Foundation to ensure the successful ongoing collection of donations, as well as with respected local charities to help distribute healthy, nutritious meals to the families most in need of our services.
Since then, we have been able to exponentially grow our efforts, thanks to your tax-deductible donations and the participation of our restaurant and non-profit partners. By acting together, we can both preserve the Valley we love and plant seeds of generosity that will outlast any season of uncertainty.
